About

Noelle Tweedie is an artist residing in Philadelphia, PA.  She primarily focuses in printmaking, drawing, and painting.  She applies her illustrative style and background in psychology to a broad range of concepts resulting in pieces that are emotive and empathic.

My work illustrates real ideas and emotions with elements of fantasy in order to accentuate the significance of human experience.  My art is a process of reflection and introspection, and I communicate these findings through a visual vocabulary of imaginative symbols.

The way I usually work is that I take a real piece of life that inspires me to use as a starting point.  This can be from a song lyric, a line from a poem, or a personal experience. My goal is to illustrate it in a way so that others can see the beauty as well; I am trying to create something that intrigues others from what originally captured me. I want to be able to share my thoughts and what I value through a visual outlet because not only is it therapeutic for me, but it is the value that I can give to the world.  I strive for the reciprocity of expressing myself through art while simultaneously creating something that others can connect to emotionally. Emotions can be positive or negative, but I want the viewer to know that they are not alone.

Despite our different stories and ancestries, we all share the human condition.  Many images and symbols resonate the same way for different people of different backgrounds.  Art is a language we all share, and the pieces I make are my voice in the world.
